A Charity Walk

In the present time of global financial melt-down, the vulnerable members of our world suffer most and these are normally the children in the most remote corners on earth. We simply cannot ignore the Himalayan children and their plight. Just as every little step you make, cumulatively, will take you to your destination, every cent that you give to the causes that affect the present and future livelihood of these children will be accumulated to make a huge difference in their lives.

Let's come together to make a difference!

1 footstep = 1 cent

Every step you take, we hope to generate a donation of US$0.01, which translates into US$30 per km, as 3,000 footsteps cover an approximate distance of 1km.

Total Distance = 400km

Each step you take, each km you achieve, bring a child in the Himalayas closer to fulfilling his or her dream. So every step is a wish-fulfilling step that you are taking to bring happiness closer to the less privileged in the Himalayas.

Duration of the Charity Walk = 42 Days

The fundraising will start immediately and last until 3rd July 2009, the second day of the famed Hemis Festival in Ladakh, where a joyous gathering of tens of thousands of people will come together to rejoice in all of your good deeds.

His Holiness the Gyalwang Drukpa, his spiritual sons and daughters, as well as his devotees and participants of the Pad Yatra will be welcomed by no less than a hundred thousand (100,000) people at the Hemis Monastery, upon arrival on foot.

On the two days of Hemis Festival, names of sponsors of the Charity Walk will be read out and a few months later, after a due diligence audit, a transparent set of accounts and report on the use of funds will be made available to each corporate and individual sponsor.

Words of Wisdom

On this small planet, in the daily dreams of our life, beneficial deeds are always recommended, simply because we are all born to help each other.

By sharing our love with different expressions and through the practice of generosity, morality and understanding, we will then be fulfilling our purpose of being members of the human race.
